Life Beyond Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
This week, Dr. Ian Shulman moderated a panel discussion with Registered Psychotherapist Joddie Walker on understanding and treating post-traumatic stress disorder at Badge of Life Canada’s third annual Beyond Post-Traumatic Growth event.
Held at the beautiful Horseshoe Resort near Barrie, Ontario, we hosted a number of excellent speakers sharing their stories of growing and living through trauma, as well as this panel of experts on treatment.
At the table, from left to right, were former paramedic and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) Samantha Zahra, psychologist and co-creator of Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD Dr. Candice Monson, and psychologist Dr. Katie Stewart.
Badge of Life Canada is dedicated to promoting hope, growth and recovery from trauma for first responders and Canadian public safety personnel. Visit their website to register for their Monday night peer support group for first responders and the Wednesday night peer support group for the FAMILIES of first responders. Dr. Shulman is a frequent presenter at those meetings, which are always well-attended and excellent opportunities to connect with others who understand the challenges first responders face when dealing with trauma and operational stress injuries.
