Fabry Disease and Mental Health, with Christine Leighland

Twenty years ago, when SHIFT Cognitive Therapy opened, there was a huge, unmet need for mental health and emotional issues. The intense need for support during the pandemic helped to reduce the stigma around caring for our emotional well-being and mobilize resources; however, there still remains a significant work to be done when it comes to providing the same types of services for people dealing with rare diseases. I am proud of the work our team does to help our clients and the people within that community.
Christine Leighland is currently conducting research examining the mental health supports needed within the population of people diagnosed with Fabry Disease. Listen to her recent conversation about that with Julia Alton here.
